Case Study: Managed File Transfer through IBM Sterling for Healthcare Industry

Background on Client: Healthcare leader in providing healthcare solutions for people at low income level and/or are chronically ill.

CHALLENGE

The client had an aging MFT (Managed File Transfer) system that was becoming unreliable to use. The MFT solution could only handle limited file sizes and did not have support for any kind of cloud-based technology. The client was looking to address the needs throughout the company. The goal was to improve operating efficiency, data-sharing and data management. The client needed an updated MFT solution based on newer technology and with enhanced functionality.

RESULTS

A modernized Managed File Transfer system designed for reliability and security powered by IBM Sterling. By implementing the new solution, the number of failed and late data transfers were minimized. The number of IT tickets were reduced due to the decrease in average diagnostic and resolution times - that in turn led to a decrease in IT resources needed to address them. With the new IBM Sterling based platform, the company received enhanced visibility into their data, improving data management and better data security. The new MFT supports cloud-based technologies and the flexibility to handle large files.

SOLUTION

Frontier Technologies, a certified GOLD IBM business partner, was able to work with IBM on the Implementation of a new  Managed File Transfer solution using IBM Watson Customer Engagement and Financial services software. The company got enhanced visibility, increased data manageability, security and improved data sharing between corporate and retail locations.
